I spent an hour (two?) in Whole Foods, which is the longest I’ve spent in one before.  I looked at everything, and I mean everything.  It was fantastic.  Then I bought ingredients for a Mexican fiesta and headed back home.

It was rainy and gloomy outside, yet very beautiful.  It smelled like spring… like rain drops and lilacs.  It just seemed so perfect out, I had to snap a picture.

I wish today would have been as lovely, but it wasn’t.  Today was the first bad day I’ve had in Chicago.  A bad day at work ruins your whole day, unfortunately.  I’m in a funk and there’s no coming out of it.  I’m hoping for better days there in the future.  I think I have to develop a tougher shell if I’m going to make it in Chicago, and not let things bother me so much.

I’m feeling homesick, too.  I miss my mom, dad and sisters something fierce.

So anyway, I was going to write about my first Cubs game, but I’m not feeling it.  I think I’ll just bake some brownies, drink some chardonnay, and throw myself a little pity party.

Using a decoy while hunting is a idea that has been around for an extremely long time. Last night our friends Cathy and Mike had a Cabernet Sauvignon event where everyone brought a bottle in the $15-$20 range. Everyone started with one wine where we rated on a 5-3-1 scoring system for color, aroma, body, taste and finish. Each wine was totaled and everyone had their favorites.

We had a good selection of wines to choose from

Both Mike and I had the Big Ass Cab as our favorite, it was fruity and not overly tannic. Everyone had a different wine as their top pick. I love that everyone has such unique taste As always there was a good food selection

Off to Yoga and then packing fun, we are moving in less than 5 days. Eeek!…

After a crazy busy weekend we decided that sitting on a patio and enjoying the sun would be a great way to wind down and relax before Monday morning. We went to dinner around 5 and wanted to take advantage of the warm evening and still get home with plenty of time to get ready for the week and head to bed early. Bonfire is known for their grilled pizza’s and meat and is only about a 10 minute drive.

We picked a prime spot in the sun and I opted for a Blood Orange Margarita that I only drank about half. I ordered the beer can chicken that comes with mashed potatoes and green beans while Mike ordered a wood fired pizza with 3 types of sausage. They have the best chicken, I normally avoid chicken when going out to eat since it can be so dry but everytime I have been to Bonfire I opt for their delicious chicken.

We had great service, the food was good and the best part was sitting in the nice warm sun! I sat down and relaxed for the first time all weekend around 6:30 and before I knew it was napping I was out for the night around 9 and it was much needed after two nights of less than 6 hours of sleep. I can definitely feel the wrath of a jam packed weekend this morning, it was hard to get up and get energized. The cinnamon life will help get me started and a nice fruit salad is awaiting me in the fridge when I get enough energy to go get it before our morning meeting.…
